About the team

The best decisions are made with the best information available. Therefore, due diligence must guide every choice. As an Operations Generalist on the Venture team at Firefly, you will play a pivotal role in tracking and analyzing the flow of venture deals and investments for our funds. Your responsibilities will span across various stages of the investment process, from researching new companies and tracking metadata to conducting competitor analysis and supporting data-driven investment decisions.

What you’ll do

We're looking for an Operations Generalist with a few all-important character traits:

As an Operations Generalist, you would primarily be responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing data to inform decision-making. This involves evaluating market trends, assessing the performance of venture investments, and identifying potential growth opportunities. You would collaborate closely with our Venture team and other team members, such as investors and strategists, to provide data-driven insights that guide the team's strategic directions and investment strategies. Tasks may include preparing detailed reports and creating visualizations to communicate insights effectively.

Responsibilities

• Analyze various startup accelerator data to identify promising startups and track emerging trends

• Conduct competitor analysis to understand the market landscape, identify competitors, and assess potential risks and opportunities

• Maintain up-to-date records of portfolio company performance, ensuring that all relevant data is captured and accurately reported

• Assist in identifying strategic investors for portfolio companies

• Monitor the health of portfolio companies post-investment and provide insights into their progress and challenges

• Maintain accurate and organized metadata for all potential and existing investments, ensuring all relevant information is captured, including pitch decks, calls, and company updates

• Ensure all data and reports are clearly documented and accessible to GPs and other team members for ongoing decision-making

• Regularly track and analyze emerging trends within the startup ecosystem to support investment decisions

• Analyze past investment trends to uncover patterns and help refine future investment strategies

• Perform high-volume data entry using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other computer software

• Assist with fundraising planning for the Venture Capital fund
  
  

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• 3 to 4 years of experience as an Operations Generalist

• 2+ years of experience with data entry

• Experience with data analysis is a plus

• Excellent at writing, speaking, presenting, and using a variety of communication modes

• Proficient in English language

• Able to quickly learn and master a wide variety of tools and processes

• Experience working with high-volume data and relational databases

• Creative in developing unique approaches to problem-solving and obtaining information

• Able to work independently with little supervision

• Extremely attentive to details
